The goal was to encourage the formation of other alumni associations of UNN in other states or regions of the USA and these individual associations would work together to mobilize resources to assist the University of Nigeria, our alma mater, in strengthening its educational and academic programs.<o:p></o:p></span></p> <p><span style='mso-themecolor:text1'>The inaugural meeting, which served as a framework for establishing the structure and processes of the association, was held on April 29, 2006, with a few enthusiastic alumni in attendance. The traditional logo of the <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:PlaceType w:st="on">University</st1:PlaceType> of <st1:PlaceName w:st="on">Nigeria</st1:PlaceName></st1:place> with its motto  To Restore the Dignity of Man was adopted. The following officers were elected: Dr. Amos Nwosu, President; Dr. Oliver C. Ibe, Vice President; Mr. Tyndale Opara, Secretary; Dr. Jason Nwankwo, Financial Secretary; Miss Ngozi Ilouno, Treasurer and Mrs. Chinwe Onochie, Publicity Secretary, who later stepped down and was replaced by Dr. Ivan Woko.
